We found that Christmas (like most things...besides movie theaters) is more fun with a baby. Eva was our darling Christmas elf complete with a jolly countenance and silly hat. She was taken by the glittery bright ribbons and shiny wrapping papers...all of which ended up in her mouth. Marnie and John’s announcement of a new baby cousin on the way was surely the highlight (except of course, for their silly matching PJs with button bottoms.)
After Christmas, Logan and I left her in Boise and headed for a week in Cancun. The first day without Eva was miserable missing our little sidekick...but after some time on the beach, we forgot we ever had a baby! The trip was glorious and we were happy to be reunited in freezing Provo. Even though we’d carefully instructed Mom to discourage all development, we found Eva had several new tricks to show off.
Her latest pursuits are Cheerios and all things food. Although the days of always having a sparkling clean baby are over (we often find little bits of cracker, bread and string bean tucked into her chins), I’m amazed at how long her cooperative attention can be extended with careful bites of cereal. Her dexterity still leaves a bit to be desired, so actually getting the delicate ‘O’ to her mouth can be quite the challenge. She’s brilliantly figured out that if she just gums her entire fist, they stick quite well.
She continues to be the endless source of our entertainment and happiness. As stated in our Christmas card, ‘For Eva and Eva, Halleluiah...Halleluiah!’
