In celebration of the Chinese New Year, we gathered with the Greater China Business Club for some traditional Hot Pot. A cross between fondue and a simmering stew, it was a fresh new combination of flavors all thrown into well...a hot pot. Based on the fact that Logan and I were the only Caucasians in the restaurant, we guessed the food would be the genuine article, and it was. Thanks to Stu, our translator, chum, and hot pot connoisseur for leading tonight's tour of taste!

Blessing Day
The Blessing of Baby Jane Esther Deans
Sunday, October 19th, 2008. (the day after I turned forever 29)
It was the week of the Ward Primary Program boasting 60 sash wearing children sharing their knowledge of divine nature on the theme 'I am a Child of God.' Logan offered a beautiful blessing, I offered the closing prayer. Parents, Grandparents, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many many friends from the ward, from the neighborhood and from the GSB were there.

To celebrate this significant occasion,
A Blessing Brunch
Sparkling Lemonade with garden fresh raspberries in
Jane Esther’s signature color
Parmesan rounds with cream cheese and smoked
Norwegian Salmon
Cucumber sliver with crème fresh, Bulger Black Caviar, and Jewels of Pomegranate
Herb and olive oil bread with Roasted eggplant and tomato infusion,
Fresh hummus, and Spinach with water chestnut spread
Fruits and Berries of the Season
Chicken Pasta Florentine with red onions, cilantro and Parmigiano Reggiano
Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bites
Petite Lemon Squares
Feminine Peppermint Fudge Brownies

Toasts were offered by the men in Jane Esther's life. Dad toasted the evidence of God as seen through a beautiful child fresh from His presence. John toasted the courageous and strong Jane's that our Jane is named for. Logan toasted the concept of we and the village we belong to. And Miss Eva downed at least ten flutes of pink sparkly in the meantime.
Embroidered on the slip of this most precious gown made by mom are the names of its more precious wearers...Eva Elizabeth blessed on August 6th, 2006 and Jane Esther blessed October 19th.
What a rich collision of our choicest blessings (beloved family, dearest friends, delicious tastes) in honor of our newest blessing, sweet Baby Jane.
