Somewhere Over the Rainbow

The shot that started it all.
Really, I walked in one morning to find her...the wicked witch of the east who'd had a bed fall on her in a nasty tornado, still quite asleep, leaving only her short, round legs exposed.
It was then that we knew...it had to be a Wicked Halloween.
Eva wanted to be a 'nice and pretty' princess, a perfect fit for Glinda the Good.
The ever screechy J.E. couldn't be more typecast than misunderstood and green faced Elphaba.
We could fill in the nitty gritties easy enough.

Dining in munchkin land with the lollipop guild.
And then off to the gates of the Emerald City, where my impromptu performance of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' thrilled the good sport audience of Oz... the Dorothy cast for the show came down with laryngitis and I happened to be a ready-made understudy, ruby slippers and all.

Pumpkin Carving and Carnivals

Couldn't resist borrowing a brunette bob.
Wore it to the youth carnival we hosted...wore it to the grocery store...wore it to carve pumpkins with the crowd...at some point Log had to step in and encourage me to return it to its owner.

A Murder...A Mystery...

My first murder mystery dinner party...um, where have you been all my life?

Written for our party, set in Gatsby's glam, with all the usual suspects:
The shimmying ninny
The Parisian fashion icon
The meddling journalist
The boring intellectual
The MURDEROUS hostess
The sweet, flippant party girl
The noble and spiteful princess (me)
The creepy Butler, the oil tycoon, the philandering pilot, the bodyguard, Sir Thomas Yale...Scotland Yard (Log...who proved a worthless investigator), and the unfaithfully engaged host.
A lovely four courses, meaningless chit chat, character development, a scream, a murder, interrogation,
and a ridiculously good time!

A Dinner for Dead Poets

Tom and Ana took feasting beyond the belly...

All ye poets who long since have passed,
Kindly gather together for a feast at long last.

But not a mere feast of meat will there be,
But a feasting of words and indeed of poetry!

Come clothed as a poet who speaks to your soul,
And ready to share a poem which makes you feel whole.

Our dinner for dead poets will commence at half past eight,
So kindly do join us, and do not be late!
Dr.Suess, or the Cat in the Hat rather (A poet of my current season), Obscure British and Russian wordsmiths, Queen Elizabeth (a patroness of the arts) Rudyard Kipling and Langston Hughs were there.

Listening to favorite poems, plays, lyrics, pieces of literature, opera, and orchestra with favorite people will be forever a favorite memory.

A Dinner for Dead Poets

A Renaissance Menu paired with Poetry
Warm Wassail and the Wassailing carol dating back to the Middle Ages
Oyster Stew and Cole Porter's clever rhyme
Watercress Salad -'There is a kind of success called 'of esteem' and it butters no parsnips...' Robert Frost
Mincemeat Purses - '...they dined on mince and slices of quince.' Edward Lear
Sauteed Trout 'We fish, we fish we merrily swim, we care not for friend nor for foe: Our fins are stout, our tails are out, As through the seas we go.' - Herman Melville

Pancetta-wrapped Roasted Pork Loin (yes...that's pork wrapped in pork.) 'Of Shoes - and Ships and sealing wax, Of cabbages and Kings, Andy why the sea is boiling hot, And whether pigs have wings.' - Lewis Carroll

Blackberry Dacquoise Cake 'Nobody in the lane, and nothing, nothing bug blackberries' - Sylvia Plath
Chocolate Mousse 'O sweet divinity, dark lusciousness of a time put off, Guide me through the tides of crimson rushes, there is none finer that I may know/ than perhaps a dip into the passions/ that ethyr knows not.' - Dorean Malandra-Dara

Vogue

The dangerous discovery of my phone's reverse camera lens, to essentially photograph a mirror.
We could do this for hours....we did.
